Pristina, December 2, 2019 – Representatives of the Kosovo Law Institute (KLI) Ehat Miftaraj and Yll Zekaj, on Monday, met with the President of Kosovo Bar Association (KBA) and the executive director of KBA, Florim Shefqeti, to hand them over the reports of systematic monitoring and research of the justice system in the country, as well as to advocate for the implementation of KLI recommendations.

“Considering KBA as one of the three pillars of the judicial system in the Republic of Kosovo, we held a useful meeting with the President of the Kosovo Bar Association (KBA) and the Executive Director of KBA, Florim Shefqeti, to whom we handed over the hard copies of KLI reports published during 2019. During the meeting we discussed the main findings, assessments and recommendations of these KLI reports, for which we have taken the pledge of KBA representatives that those will be sent to all lawyers electronically, which are very important for their daily work”, said Ehat Miftaraj, executive director of KLI.

KBA President, Osman Havolli, evaluated KLI’s work in monitoring and researching important topics in the field of justice, which, according to him, are very important for the law profession and lawyers as legal professionals. “KBA is open to cooperation with KLI and we are looking forward to identify and enhance areas of cooperation in the future. Monitoring of court hearings by KLI monitors has always been welcomed by lawyers, as representatives of parties in court proceedings”, said Havolli.

Miftaraj thanked the President of KBA for continuous cooperation between KLI and KBA, also through KBA representatives thanked all lawyers for correct cooperation over the years with monitors who systematically monitor the system. justice in Kosovo. Miftaraj also expressed readiness to continue and increase cooperation with the KBA. “Among the topics with interest that we discussed at this meeting are increasing citizens’ access to justice, as well as enhancing the accountability of the judicial system, including lawyers, in order to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of the provision of justice services to citizens”, said Miftaraj.

KLI has continuously advocated to all stakeholders of the justice and security system, handing to them all reports with concrete findings, assessments and recommendations, as well as meeting responsible officials in all relevant institutions to push forward the policies that enhance efficiency and effectiveness of the work of justice system, security and independent law enforcement agencies, in order to enable citizens to exercise their rights and their access to justice.
